Bishop Alton Gatlin
Bishop
Gatlin is a visionary with a desire to see
the people of the Lord "prosper and be
in health, as their souls prosper!" Receiving
his formal training from Mississippi
Valley State University and the
University
of Southwestern Louisiana he
received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He earned
the Master of Divinity
at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Bishop Gatlin assumed the Pastorate of First
Church in 1986. He serves as the District
Superintendent of the Crowley District under
the capable leadership of Bishop
Roy L. H. Winbush, Louisiana
First Jurisdiction. He is a motivational speaker
conducting seminars, workshops and meetings
on a national and international level. He
is currently the Jurisdictional Dean of the
United State Auxiliaries Convention and President
of the Department of Education. He is the
President of the Louisiana chapters of the
C. H. Mason Bible College. Internationally,
he is the International President Sunday School
President for the Church of God in Christ
Auxiliaries
in Ministry (AIM) Convention. His passion
is cultivating ministries and Church Growth.
His apostolic ministry has established churches
in Iota, Mermentau, Ville Platte, Lake Arthur
and Church Point, Louisiana. His love for
young people prompted the organization of
the Love Alive Campus Ministry,
comprised of nine universities in Louisiana.
In addition to his ministerial duty, Bishop
Gatlin is a great supporter of family and
community. He has devoted time as a 4-H Leader,
Junior Achievement Advisor, Counselor for
Louisiana Boys State, and Boy Scouts of America.
His voice has also been heard on the airwaves
of KAJN
(Crowley), KJCB and KFXZ (Lafayette). He is
also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity,
Inc.
Bishop Gatlin has been appointed by the Late
Presiding Bishop G.E. Patterson, to assumed
the head of the World's
Greatest Sunday School Department. We
